National Taiwan Ocean University Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering

The mission of the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering is to impart students with professional knowledge in mechanical and mechatronic engineering and related technologies, enabling them, upon graduation, to possess practical and innovative abilities to solve engineering problems, as well as a forward-looking perspective. Graduates are expected to uphold engineering ethics and demonstrate independent judgment and research and development capabilities, thereby becoming outstanding engineering professionals in their future careers.

Through the promotion of engineering and technology education accreditation, the Department continuously reviews and enhances the quality of its education and the employment competitiveness of its graduates, while simultaneously strengthening its academic reputation and social recognition. The Department aspires to achieve the goal of internationalization in engineering education.

The teaching and research in the department encompasses the following fields: (1) Solid mechanics and material science, (2) Energy engineering and fluid mechanics, (3) Mechatronics and control, (4) Design and manufacturing, (5) Nano/Micro system. In addition to the above, recent development of the department focuses on the fields of Bio MEMS, underwater technology, precision engineering, in accordance with the feature of NTOU. Our teaching emphasizes lab experiments and practice in addition to theoretical fundamentals and concepts. The school offers a variety of experimental courses designed to help students gain practical experience on campus.

The employment channels for graduates of this department are very broad, besides from general machinery, aerospace, automobiles, steel materials and air-conditioning, we can also see our alumni invest in other industries such as marine-related shipbuilders. Surveyors and senior engineers, factory engineers. In addition, there are quite afew graduate students entering the electronics and optoelectronics industries.
